Professor LewisBiggshas been responsible for the last two editions of Folkestone Triennial, which has become a celebrated example of how even a small town can achieve impact in the international art world through an ambitious exhibition. This talk focuses on the research and process involved in realising selected artworks in Folkestone in the last four years, and how the Triennial contributes to the life of the town.
Lewisfounded and developed Liverpool Biennial between 1998 and 2010, during which time Liverpool was European Capital of Culture 2008. Since becoming an independent curatorLewishas specialised in commissioning art outdoors in Japan, China, Lithuania and Mongolia as well as Folkestone.
