Leaving a gift in your will

Vivacity wouldn’t be what it is today without the kindness and generosity of benefactors bequeathing gifts to us. From the Museum building itself, and parcels of land to use or sell-on, to small valuable items, works of art, monetary gifts and heirlooms, the people of Peterborough have been culturally enriched through the generosity of others. 

Such gifts ensure that an area of our work that you are interested in will continue to thrive long into the future and enable us to continue to inspire our residents and visitors alike. If you leave a gift in your Will to Vivacity, the gift is exempt from inheritance tax. 

Types of gift you can leave include:

• A share of your estate (Residuary Legacy): When you have decided what you will leave to your family and friends, you can donate part, or all of what remains
• A specific sum of money (Pecuniary Legacy): You write this amount in your will
• A specific item: Any item that will be of value to our work when sold 

If you would like to leave us a gift, please consult a solicitor. Further information about legacies and tax can be found here. If you do decide you would like to help us in this way, it would be useful for us to know about your intentions by completing a Legacy Pledge Form. Pledges are not legally binding, but they can help us to plan activities in the future. Completing the form will also give us the opportunity to thank you and keep you informed of our work and any particular area you wish to support.
